STICKY FEET CLIMBING

Yesterday was an amazing mixture of sightseeing, filming, hiking, & climbing. We are working on a promotional video for Sticky Feet Climbing in Belfast and its a pretty exciting project!  Ciara and I are now a tad sun burnt and feeling a little sore after climbing up Hen mountain with all the gear. It was impressive to see a group of young enthusiastic climbers working hard together alongside John Begley to showcase some amazing skills! The scenery yesterday was incredible. If you haven't been to the Mournes they are a sight to behold!

NEW ZEALAND ICE HOCKEY LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS

I'm excited to be working alongside Jez Brown and the Slapshot Productions team once again. This time, I will be editing a weekly highlights video from the best games in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League. The season will be running for 14 weeks until the end of August. I will be digging out the big hits, fights and loads of goals! The videos will have pre and post match interviews and analysis as the competition progresses. I am looking forward to learning more about ice hockey along the way. Here is this weeks best match up:

Northern Ireland Tai-Jutsu Association

Looking forward to getting stuck into editing the promotional video for the Northern Ireland Tai-Jutsu Association. We filmed a really cool session with Stephen Frazer & Stuart Needham and the group on Friday at Queens PEC in the Botanic Quarter and they definitely put them through their paces. It looked to me like a very physical session and I would say there would have been some sore bodies the next morning. Here's a couple of still frames from the shoot.

ICE BLACKS

Over the past month I have been working hard editing this feature length documentary in collaboration with my good friend Jez Brown and his company Slapshot Productions. "Ice Blacks" documents the New Zealand ice hockey team as they face off against the world. There has been many a late night from both sides of the globe and I am very proud of the finished film. Here is the trailer.

"In 1987 the New Zealand men’s ice hockey team played their first international tournament, they came up against Australia for the first time ever and lost 58-0. It was a world record at the time, but now the ‘Ice Blacks’ are setting the record straight"

It's available to watch on vimeo on demand for a small fee. If you are into sporting films please check it out.

Ice Blacks Documentary

I am very excited to be involved in the editing process of the upcoming Ice Black's Documentary In which my friend Jez Brown from Slapshot Productions followed the New Zealand men's ice hockey team to the 2011 world championships. Their achievement, against all the odds, was the greatest ever by a New Zealand men's ice hockey team.

It's been an exciting edit so far and I am very proud to be involved, It really is a great story with lots of twists and turns. We are working together to make a great documentary. Watch this space...

John O'Connor
